Idapted’s technology team releases open source telegraph library allowing rapid development of voice and web applications
Beijing, PRC, May 15th, 2007
Idapted Ltd. has released an open source Ruby on Rails library, known as Telegraph, which allows the rapid development of voice applications using the Ruby on Rails web development framework. Jonathan Palley, Idapted's co-founder and VP Product/Technology, will be formally releasing the plug-in during his presentation at the international Ruby on Rails conference May 17th, 2007. Extracted from Idapted's revolutionary language learning platform, the Telegraph library significantly improves the possibilities for developing voice applications. “Ruby on Rails allows the rapid development of web applications using design best practices such as MVC and CRUD,” said Palley, “with Telegraph, it is now possible to use these same design practices when adding voice functionality to web applications.”
Built on, but significantly improving and changing, existing open source Ruby libraries, Idapted hopes to foster improvements and innovation in the technology that allows the merging of voice and web interfaces. “We know many people and companies have developed their own hacks to merge Ruby on Rails and voice interfaces,” continued Palley. “Our hope with releasing the innovative Telegraph library is to bring out and merge the knowledge of all the companies and developers in this space to arrive at a truly robust library to merge voice and web.” More information about Telegraph can be found at http://telegraph.rubyforge.org.
