Trainer Frequently Asked Questions

WORK & ENVIRONMENT

Q: What exactly will I be doing?

A: As an Idapted Trainer, you would be guiding Students through a series of exercises helping them practice their spoken English. Using our proprietary platform, you would use your native language skills to correct their pronunciation, style, vocabulary and/or grammar.

Q: Would I be doing telemarketing?

A: Idapted is not a telemarketing company. All the students you will be serving are language learners who want to practice their language skills.

Q: Who will I be talking to?

A: All the students you will be talking to will be young professionals, college students or even high school students based in China with good English knowledge who need to practice their oral skills.

Q: Does this require any prior teaching experience?

A: Prior teaching experience is a plus. However, our platform is designed to empower native speakers to be effective Trainers without any prior background in education.

Q: Do I have to speak the Student's native language?

A: No. Communication between Trainer and Student will be exclusively in English. Our students are expected to have working knowledge of English as taught in general education institutions.

Q: What will I be talking about?

A: There are several topics defined for students to choose. As soon as the session starts a screen with the chosen topic appears letting the Trainer know who the student is and what they are going to be talking about.

Q: Do I have a script to follow?

A: Trainers do not have a script to follow because the conversation should be natural. There are some prompt within each topic that helps our trainers go through the conversations.

Q: How many hours can I work?

A: As an Independent Contractor, you can work as many or as few hours as your schedule permits you.

Q: Are there minimum hours that a Trainer has to be available?

A: Scheduling time is strictly up to each Trainer. Trainers can provide services as little or as often as their lifestyle allows. The only minimum call requirement for Idapted Trainers is that one call is taken within a 30 day time period.

Q: Do all Trainers work the same number of sessions while available?

A: The number of sessions that a Trainer works will vary based on a variety of factors. Trainers who "commit" to being available during peak hours of customer demand (early mornings and late night weekends) will have a much better opportunity to receive additional calls. Additionally, Idapted has a proprietary call routing system which routes calls based on, but not limited to, Trainer's past grading and schedule adherence.

Q: When is the heaviest call volume?

A: Call volumes vary due to the needs of our clients, however, early mornings and late night weekends are usually the best times to generate revenue.

Q: When can I start to work?

A: You will be able to start work immediately upon successfully completing the certification process, you only need to log into the Trainer portal with your name and password and take a look at the schedule.

Q: What is recasting?

A: Recasting is taking all or part of a learner’s utterance and repeating in a correct form, is a key skill you will be trained on during certification.

Q: Is there a limit for recasting?

A: Yes, Trainers are only able to recast the number of auditions shown at the Trainer Portal.
